The Challenge
The Solution
One of the biggest problems facing America's education system is the lack of access to quality education. The issue is more prevalent in low- income and rural areas.
To invest more resources in under funded communities. Youth and young adults needs supportive connections to caring adults and mainstream services that will place them on a path to long term success.
Forget the noun, do the verb! Most community kitchens have religious based or formal names. We saw a huge opportunity to differentiate the brand with a name that express what we do not just who we are.
Naming


After extensive design exploration we've set out to create an identity system that best communicates the brand's values. Increasing connection within our community, educational growth, promoting health & wellness and advocating for economical stability are the pillars of this foundation. Coffee is just the bait!
The result is a three color system that creates a sense of familiarity and trust with a typeface that's as bold as the coffee served.

+17 years of service
Founded by 3 students in a college dorm room. Then known as the "Crash Pad", the peer to peer network helped at risk teens reach their potential by offering tutoring, support, enrollment assistance and occasionally serving as room and board for prospective students.
Despite being frowned upon by the institution for compliance and code violations. The trio shared a common interest for mentoring and helping those in need. They used coffee as a tool to foster community and fuel their late night study sessions. Those studies sessions became what we now know as Commune: Resource Center & Coffeehouse




Products and Services
At Commune, every cup supports higher education. We invest 80% of our proceeds in the public schools system, local community projects and global initiatives. Beyond beans, our shelves feature a an extensive variety of books and locally sourced products, creating a haven to grow and connect within your community.
We pride ourselves on being a hub that connects people to information and people to people. After-school homework help, book clubs and online courses are offered on weekly bases.






Social Media Marketing
Social media is crucial for our nonprofit coffee shop, connecting us with a broader audience, fostering community engagement, and amplifying our mission beyond the physical space. It's not just about promoting coffee but creating a virtual gathering place for supporters and volunteers to share in our commitment to positive change.
